Stephen Schwartz is the multi-award-winning musical mind behind “Wicked” and “Godspell.” And — starting in December — the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge will be performing a new production of his musical “Pippin.”

Schwartz joins us live to talk about his creative life and why we should care about Broadway now.

Anthony , you are always an excellent host/interviewer. But today’s show featuring Stephen Schwartz really brought out the best in you. Just insightful questions to a great composer. I loved how you both handled the young caller whose “favorite show of all time” was “Wicked.” You treat everyone with respect. Great show! You’re able to switch gears so quickly: from transplants to “Pippin” in a matter of seconds.

Hosts Meghna Chakrabarti and Anthony Brooks introduce us to newsmakers, big thinkers and artists and bring us stories of relevance to Bostonians here and around the region. Live every weekday at 3.
