Jo Lily And The Mystix Share Their ‘Mighty Tone’

Jo Lily has one of those grave, soulful voices that sounds like it’s been honed by years of whiskey, cigarettes and life. Lily is the guitarist and lead vocalist of The Mystix, a Boston-based American roots band.

The Mystix new album, “Mighty Tone,” is a journey into the rich history of American music from the minstrel era to the white and black blues of the 1920s.

Jo Lily and the Mystix will be performing a CD-release party at Johnny D’s in Davis Square in Somerville on Thursday, June 14.

What a great treat to hear Joe Lilly’s voice!  Back in the day, he and my husband were both musicians playing in and around the North Shore.  Remember the Joe Lilly Band, or the Magnetos, anyone?  I’m glad to hear Joe sounding so great, and look forward to hearing the entire CD.  Yet another reason why I always listen to WBUR!
