Chris Smither’s Cosmic Blues On ‘Hundred Dollar Valentine’
In his early 20’s, singer-songwriter Chris Smither left his hometown of New Orleans to pursue a music career in Boston. Four decades and 12 studio albums later, Smither is still living and performing in Massachusetts. His latest album, “Hundred Dollar Valentine,” will be released next month.
This is Smither’s first album comprised entirely of original material and it features a mix of old and new songs, including the popularly covered “I Feel the Same” and “Every Mother’s Son”. With his resonant, well-crafted lyrics, his honest, world-weary voice and his bluesy, finger-picking guitar, Smither is proof that some things really do get better with age.
