Artists Chronicle Voices Without Faces, Voices Without Races

When the Museum of Science brought the RACE: Why Are We So Different exhibit to Boston from Minnesota, the local community asked if something could be added that would address Boston’s unique racial experience and history.

Voices Without Faces, Voices Without Races is what they came up with.

Sound artist Halsey Burgund led teams from the museum that interviewed 250 people living along the Route 28 corridor to assemble an absorbing sound collage of racial experiences and stories.

Video artist Francois de Costerd collaborated with Burgund to film the journey along Route 28 and project it into the gallery space.

Radio Boston’s Adam Ragusea describes what it’s like.
