New Resiliency Center Supports Marathon Bombing Survivors

Tattered blue and gold banners hang outside the Old South Church on Boylston Street in Boston on April 17, 2014. The banners flew last year through the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings near the finish line and remained behind FBI crime scene barriers for eight days, becoming tattered in the wind and rain. More than a year and a half has passed since the bombing of the Boston Marathon, but hundreds of people are still struggling with wounds and scars both physical and psychological. Now, there’s a place where they can come together to support each other and get help from professionals — free of charge. It’s called the Massachusetts Resiliency Center, which opened this past summer, thanks to a $1.9 million federal grant.

Services can be accessed through the Resiliency Center at (844) STRONG-1 or by visiting MOVA’s website at www.mass.gov/mova.

Guests

Kermit Crawford, director of the Massachusetts Resiliency Center and a clinical psychologist at Boston Medical Center.

Manya Chylinski, member of the center’s advisory council who was across the street from the first bomb that went off at the 2013 Boston Marathon.
