So it’s Wednesday, which is when we talk about the week in sports with Bill Littlefield, host of Only A Game. But today, we’re going to talk about the last 20 years because today, Only A Game is celebrating its 20th birthday as NPR’s signature — and only — sports program.

Kudos for Bill from a long time listener who has had his world of sport broadened through great contributors as Ken Shulman whose depth of perspective as far back as the Armenian Youth Federation of America national olympic games to as recently as the cricket match between Pakistan and India. The former, rivals, if not exceeds, Bud Collins commentary of Newport Tennis Hall of Fame champ Sargis Sargisian and the latter, brought to light the voices of Indian and Pakistani women cheering their respective teams and talking with each other, both without restraint. This is why I feel no hesitation in pitching Only a Game, to those who likewise  would find traditional sports reporting and coverage limited and redundant.
