Personal Reaction To Dramatic Testimony At Bulger Trial
In federal court today, there was a dramatic outburst from James “Whitey” Bulger. It came during the second day of testimony from Kevin Weeks, a former bouncer and enforcer who once worked for the Boston mob boss. Bulger is charged with racketeering, extortion and 19 murders — and Weeks is the man who knew where Bulger buried the bodies because he helped him do it.
Weeks is on the stand as a key government witness after pleading guilty to participating in five of the murders and serving five years in jail. In testimony today, he described how Bulger shook people down, shot them without remorse, buried the bodies and cleaned up the blood. WBUR’s David Boeris was in court today covering the trial
Also in the courtroom following the trial is Michael Patrick Macdonald, who grew up in South Boston. He is the author of All Souls, a memoir about growing up in Southie when James Whitey Bulger ruled the criminal underworld.
