Ellis Paul might not have become a professional musician if it weren’t for an injury.

While attending Boston College on a track scholarship, he was hurt and sidelined and picked up the guitar to pass his time. Now more than 20 years later, he’s been dubbed the “Dean of the Boston School of Songwriting,” known for his modern folk sound.

This year he takes on holiday music for the first time and releases his first holiday album this month.

Paul will play four shows between Sunday, Dec. 30 and Monday, Dec. 31 at Club Passim and will give a special family concert on New Years Eve at Boston’s First Night celebration.
