Question 2 On Assisted Suicide Defeated

Massachusetts voters narrowly rejected a ballot initiative that would have allowed terminally ill patients to end their lives with physician-prescribed medication.

A Boston Globe poll (PDF) in October found that nearly half of Massachusetts residents supported the measure, but a strong campaign against it was turning the tide. Early Wednesday morning the Death with Dignity Campaign conceded defeat.

WBUR’s Carey Goldberg has followed the battle over Question 2, and she joins Radio Boston to discuss why the it failed to pass.

Massachusetts would have followed Washington and Oregon if it had been approved.
