Election 2012: Record Turnout Expected In Mass.

According to reports from across Massachusetts, there’s been heavy voter turn-out on this election day. In some precincts, people have waited as long as two hours to cast their ballots. Massachusetts Secretary of State William Galvin predicts that 3.2 million voters will cast ballots Tuesday — surpassing voter turnout in the 2008 presidential election.

With just under four hours to go until the polls close, we check in with our reporters at voting stations across the state.

Why don’t we have early voting for presidential elections?

In MA early voting = absentee ballot.  You can either have your absentee ballot mailed to you, or you can go to your town/city hall during regular hours and request your absentee ballot.  They hand it to you, you find a corner to fill it out in, then give it back.  Several of my friends and family had to do this as they are out of town today.

You are only supposed to get one if you are out of town for the election.  And it is more of a bother than standing in line.  MA shouldn’t be behind other states in offering early voting.
