Radio Boston and The Drum, Boston’s Audio Literary Magazine, teamed up to ask you to write about your favorite neighborhoods in a project called ZIP-Code Stories. We are happy to announce this round’s ZIP-Code Stories winner is Lisa Rogers.
Rogers is a school librarian from Wellesley and she wrote “Off the Map,” a piece about her favorite place in Wellesley, Morses Pond.
“Morses Pond is 100 beautiful acres on the Wellesley-Natick line just south of Route 9 and north of Wellesley College, and it really feels like a place apart from the world but with a very warm community,” Rogers says.
Henriette Lazaridis Power, editor of The Drum and co-creator of ZIP-Code Stories chose this story because it dealt with the very nature of ZIP codes.
“We had a ZIP-Code Story that played with the notion of ZIP codes itself,” Power says. “And [Lisa] found this place that was sort of trascendent of all the ZIP codes around it.”
Guests:
