‘Music Is The One Thing We Share:’ An Alzheimer’s Caregiver Speaks
Lynne and Patrick Scannell have sung and played music together throughout their marriage. When Patrick was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia three years ago, all of that began to change.
Lynne usually cares for him at home, but three days a week, she takes Patrick to Hearthstone, a Marlborough care facility that has a dedicated Alzheimer’s Unit.
Despite the progression of the disease, Patrick still manages to play the harmonica and on special occasions, sings with his wife.
We visit with them at Hearthstone in Marlborough.
