Low Anthem’s Jocie Adams Has A Notion Of Her Own

Providence-based band The Low Anthem has had a great couple of years. Their 2009 album “Oh My God, Charlie Darwin” earned a lot of love from fans and critics. They’ve played at Lincoln Center, been on David Letterman twice, and are planning a tour with Iron and Wine.

So it’s interesting that the young lady of the group, Jocie Adams, chose this moment to do some serious side work. But once you listen, you’ll be glad she did. Her debut solo album, Bed of Notions, comes out today. Her record release party is tonight at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge.

Jocie is playing a few shows on her own in May!! May 21st in Harvard Square at First Parish Cambridge accompanied by Marketa Irglova, Martha Guenther, Charlie Rose and Mike Irwin. I psyched about the show and am trying to get the word out!

I adore Jocie Adams and I would love to see her perform a solo show. I’ve seen The Low Anthem twice in the UK but I’m utterly captivated by Jocie’s joyful spirit and musicianship – and I’d travel anywhere to see her play solo.

I got this album yesterday & I’m so utterly in love with it today! I’ve liked Low Anthem since their inception & Jocie’s solo is just a terrific addition to that.
